cbr 600 f2/f3 installing head

I believe I have a f3 motor in a f2 bike. Took my head off to check out cylinder walls and to shim valves. Everything looks good and valves are now shimmed correctly. I looked in my factory manual and there is no tightening sequence on the head bolts. It just says installation is reverse of removal. Do I tighten from the inside to the outside? Is there a sequence?

Still no answer, does anyone break apart their motor these days, or does when the bike quits it goes to the scrap yard. I guess before long the dealer will not even service the bike!

The dealership where I work won't service anything over ten years old. As for your question, usually things get tightened from the center outwards, if you tighten the outside first the center of the head may never compress the gasket properly. Criss-cross from the center out.

Not sure if it is applicable to the tightening pattern for the head, but on page 8-5 of the factory manual a tightening pattern is given for the cam shaft holders. The pattern is a hybrid between center-out and out-to-center. The factory may have came up with this scheme to ensure a flat installation of the cam. Something to consider. Good luck.

The F4 manual says to install the 9mm bolts with threads oiled/greased and tighten in a criss-cross pattern in three steps. It should be the same for the F3.
