Re: HELP HELP HELP an f4i shouldn't need 97 octane. but that wouldn't make it run this crappy either. if this happened to you all of a sudden maybe check the exhaust for blockage (sounds like a possibility). maybe some punk kid stuffed a steak in there or something.

Re: HELP HELP HELP Seems unlikley it would all of a sudden have several unrelated issues. The smoke, oil leak and gas may be related. First is the oil leaking from the exhaust or something above and it drips on the exhaust? Smell it does it smell like gas? It could be your engine is getting over fueled and either gas is getting in the exhaust getting black and dripping out looking like oil or is getting in the case and over flowing the oil. I have seen this with bikes when the fuel cap stops venting. It fills the entire engine and exhaust with gas. Drain the oil and check it. Tip the bike up or take off the muffler and ip the bike up and see if fuel comes out. If so try running the bike with the cap open. May also be open injectors or another fuel managment problem.

What is your tech skill when it comes to bikes? Was the oil leakin B4 you did the oil change? The speed limiting of the bike sounds like a fueling issue, possibly a breathing issue with the airbox. I would lift the tank and pay close attention to what everything looks like while doing so. Make sure there is no binding of any of the breather hoses and fuel hoses under the tank. thats just for starters. As far as the oil leaking, change that seal on the pan, or check the oil filter, make sure that the filter is hand tight and that the o ring is in good shape (should b ok if new), check that there are no cracks. that is all that i can think of for now. As far as the brakes, change the pads and post a pic of the present pads. Also make sure that there is no ait in the lines (bleed'em good).

Re: HELP HELP HELP If it smells like gas do this: Remove spark plugs and either ground the wires or if its coil on plug disconnect the coils. Crank the engine till all the fuel is blown out of the cylinders. You will want to put some rags over the plug holes so gas does not shoot all over. Have someone tip bike up on its rear wheel and empty fuel out of exhaust system. Leave all this open a while so the left fuel will evaporate out. Put a small amount (1/2 tea spoon) of oil in each cylinder then put plugs back in and coils etc back on. Put exhaust back on. Drain oil and fill with new oil. Open fuel cap, start and run bike. It will smoke a little from the oil but should stop a fter a few minutes. If it runs OK and does not flood out again it is your cap. Drain the oil again refill it and change the filter. If it does reflood you may have an open injector or fuel managment issue. When you crank it watch to see if fuell comes out of ALL the cylinders or just one. If it is one it is probably an injector. If it is all 4 you have another issue.

Re: HELP HELP HELP Can't believe this. The third time in a week similar problems posted on 600's. I don't know how to search the other threads but a fuel pressure regulator is suspect. Sucking fuel through the vacuum line that's connected to it.

Re: HELP HELP HELP Possible, Seen that on cars. Usually it just makes it run rich. Would have to pull a LOT of fuel through the regulator to flood out the whole engine but I can see how it coud happen.

| Re: HELP HELP HELP So you found oil on your headers or midpipe?(the 4 pipes that go into the engine) I think it's possible that you might have melted a hole in your oil filter. Check that stuff that the mentioned above (non venting fuel cap) and locate the leak. Riding around with an oil leak is pretty bad news.
