Re: Lost My keys

I did the same on my 03-954.
Had to pull the top of the tripple tree then flip it over to expose the screws that are one directional.
I tack welded a long bolt (thread end into the existing screwhead) then placed a wrench on the tack bolt and backed out (both sides).
Then installed a new ignition switch.
I was not able to recover any numbers to have a new key cut.
Prior to loosing my only key, i had one cut at the dealership and it did not work. The keys for this bike are quite particular where the shank of the key drops off square before the actual indentions are cut into the key.
This is critical due to the point it disengages the fork lock.
The entire swap out took about two hours to complete.
Once i installed the new switch assembly i ordered the replace gas and trunk key and tumblers with the new ignition key code.
It sucks but not much more i could do.

Re: Lost My keys

Keys to new bikes come with a tag with the code on it. If you know which dealership it was originally sold at, they should have a vehicle master file and a record of the key code as well. "Should" is the operative word...

Re: Lost My keys

You got another choice in the fact that if you can have a locksmith (probly mobile) come and make you a key for it. I lost my key to my gas cap, I was able to drive it down to the locksmith and have them do it for me. $35 there.. so a mobile locksmith will be about 50-60.
