Looking in my owners manual for my 07 600rr its says to change the oil every 8,000 miles in one section and every 4,000 miles in another section. No way in hell will I go 8k miles and 4k seems to long to me?? also thinking about running mobil1 synthetic? How about anyone else

Re: oil change intervals

I changed the oil in my 92 CBR600F2 every 1000 miles with Amzoil. I had the bike 15 years and never had a lubrication related problem. This may seem too frequent to some, but consider it as protecting your investment.

Read the thread "oil change intervals really?" or something like that.

Also, I sent in a sample of my oil for analysis after a little over 4000 miles and it was just then starting to break down. Rotella 5w-40 synthetic, it was in better shape than mobile1 that was also analyzed after the same amount of miles. Check this thread Shell Rotella T Synthetic full analysis Either way all three of the oils that were analyzed were doing all right after 4000 miles but I wouldn't have gone any longer than that. I'll send in my next sample for analysis as well just to have a double set of values.

Re: oil change intervals

Changing the oil every 8,000 will keep the sludge out of your oil pan. You aren't going to run your bike 500,000 miles. ARE YOU?

Changing it every 500 miles isn't going to make the gear dogs in your transmission last any longer if that's what you are worried about. Buy some good gear with that money.
