Smoother shifting.

So,
my new 07 600rr is a little clunky when shifting...
Any comments?
Upshift and downshift.
And is there a way to make the friction area of the clutch slightly larger? Its kind of in or out at the moment.

how new is the bike? have you put many miles on it? once the transmission breaks in it will get slightly 'smoother' but the clunkiness is normal unless you're not shifting properly.

why do you need to make the clutch friction area bigger? you could buy a racing type clutch for it if you think you need it. i highly doubt you do. does the bike have a hydraulic clutch or cable? you can still slip the clutch either way but again why? what is the problem?

i switched to semi/synth Repsol oil and pretty much eliminated my clunkiness in my CBR1000RR. i'd get the clunkiness around 1000miles and stay that way til 3,000 mile mark. w/ the Repsol it's smooth the entire 3000. GL

Hi there!
So, i think part of the problem is not high enough RPM, and length of time to shift. Think i was letting the RPM get too low before releasing.
The bike is 500mi. new. Really new.
And the clutch is a cable. The clunk was engaging into the tranny. The bike got stuck in a quick stop the other day as well. It was stuck in 6th gear, as i short stopped from the a hole pulling out in front of me. Took a little effort to get the bike to shift back down. Had to slightly engage 6th, and then pull the clutch back in, then it dis-engaged the gear and was able to downshift back to 1.
O well. Learning process, you know?
