Re: 1990 hurricane questions

Hi, in response to your question regarding affixing newer plastics to your '90 CBR, yes, it is possible, though you will have to make all sorts of mounts to take up the slack between the old plastics mounting points and the mounting holes on the newer plastics. I've done this before and although it's not too hard of a thing to do it does take some time to get everything sitting right and in order and most of all strong enough to hold up against wind buffering and to hold the weight of the plastics. I usually start out with some plumbers tape, it can be found in almost any hardware store and use this to hold the body of the front plastics I want to attach all together while a friend holds it up to the bike it's going to fit on, then I measure wither with a tape measure or even better a fabric tape measure becasue it's more flexible, and then begin cutting and drilling some aluminum spacer brackets to fit between the old bikes mounts and the newer plastics. it takes awhile but it always looks better. as afar as the thickness of the aluminum spacers I usually use anything from 1/16th of and inch to 1/8 of an inch just to ensure that everything will stay together and not fall apart at the wrong moments 'cuz the last thing you want is your plastics resting on your clip-ons! OUCH!...Mamma! will definetly ensue, so do it right and play it safe. it's a pretty easy job, just time consuming, but then again anything worth doing right takes time.. good luck and if and when you get it done throw up some pics. also, look around the net for info. on the subject from other peoples experiences with such, the world's at your fingertips!

Re: 1990 hurricane questions

I used an F2 nose and sides and an F3 tail section. like I said it takes some decent attention to details but it is possible. Also for the nose you're going to have to either fabricate your own fairing hanger or adapt the F2 one... I made my own, wish I had some pix but alas I don't. let me know if you have any more questions!
