f3 won't start

Hey whats up I just bought a 96 cbr in pieces and put it all back together. When I crank it over it backfires out the exhaust and if I open the carbs alittle it intermitently backfires through the carbs. I swapped the cdi, coils, and rectifier with ones from my f2 and still does the same thing. I couldnt change the plugs because nobody had them in stock, but they look fine. I sprayed ether directlly at the carbs while cranking and no change. It hasnt been started since last summer so could it be cloged carbs?(which doesnt make sence because the ether didnt help) I dont have the solenoid valve hooked up because I have no idea where it goes but that shouldn't be the cause should it? As far as I know the actual engine has not been touched so I don't think it would be the pulse generator either? Any other suggestions?

HEY MAN IT COULD BE YOUR ALTERNATOR. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY F3. CHANGE THAT IT SHOULD START UP JUST FINE. MANY TIMES ON THESE CBRS THE OLDER ONES GO BAD. EITHER PICK ONE UP FOR AROUND $140 ON EBAY MOTORS OR BUY ONE FOR CHEAP AT A BIKE SALVAGE YARD
