BIKE WONT IDLE RIGHT. NOR RUN FOR LONG THINK IT IS THE STATOR AND RECTIFIER.

I just bought a 1998 cbr f3 600 with about 20000 miles on it. The guy said it was fine but it had been sitting. I hear that the stator and rectifiers from the manufacturer go out pretty fast so i think i need to replace that. it drains my battery, and when it does start it doesnt idle and when i give it some gas it dies immediately. Wondering if the carbs could use some work. What do you all think? Also i am new at all this but good with my hands and working on stuff. Would it be wiser for me to take it into a shop or order the stuff online and do it myself. or even buy the parts online and take it into the shop parts and all? let me know

do some searches about stator issues and how to test them. It should be the same for your bike as well. All you need is a multimeter to do the testing with. try to do as much as you can before you send it off to a mechanic.

Try this first. I have used it countless number of times and have had it sent to me also. Check it out and use the multimeter, will save you lots of money. Stator and R/R are easy change outs.
