| 2001 Honda F4i "FI" Light Issue I recently purchased an '01 F4i and have a fairly serious issue with it:
Randomly the bike will shut off at traffic lights or coasting up to traffic lights. I also had the bike start to feel as if it were bucking and then the "FI" light pops on (doesnt flash a code..just comes on) and then the rpms drop and the bike dies.
Anyone have a similar bucking feeling followed by the FI light and the bike dying? I havent had it happen at speed yet...just under 10mph or so in parking lots and sitting at traffic lights.
FWIW, I tested the battery voltage yesterday and all seemed well with the voltages with the bike off, on, and revved to 5k rpms. So that would indicate the R/R is still good.
Curious about any suggestions you all may have for what could be causing this fairly crappy condition I am experiencing??
Thanks! |

mine will run fine at idle
when i rev it up it goes just great but when i roll down the road and hold the throttle at a steady speed it starts to sputter and occasionally the fi light will turn on it has only been doing this for 4 days and its stalled two times it doesnt always do it only occasonally it did stall at a light but idle was fine it was when i gave it a little gas to take off it stalled |

It started out really randomly like 1x per ride it would die at a light. Then over the course of 2 weeks it got worse and worse to the point where on the way to work (12 miles) it would die and bump start itself 2-3 times as I was just rolling along at 70mph. I never trusted it at stop lights and overall it just sucked to always be worried about it. |

| Re: 2001 Honda F4i "FI" Light Issue Fuel Pressure Regulator....Common problem with the F4izzy. MOST of the time it will not hold an idle, but it will run great as long as ur on the throttle. Sometimes smells rich of fuel, floods #2 and #3 cylinders is why it causes it to act up. When it gets bad it will foul the plugs pretty quick....=-) |

| Re: 2001 Honda F4i "FI" Light Issue i can get the thing to idle for days no prob if i wanted to.. and its never fouled a plug or flooded since the fi light turned on a few times i was told it would give me a code in service mode but the fi light just stayed on didnt flash any codes i did remove the kill sensor to see if that was the issue but it is raning right now so i havnt got to go for a ride to find out if that is the problem i hope so |

| Re: 2001 Honda F4i "FI" Light Issue I have recently had this FI light come on as well.... but the bike runs great... it doesnt stall, die, or anything... as i mentioned, it running fine. However, i do get a heavy smell of gas from the exhaust and my gas cunsumption seems to be abnormal... any suggestions?? |
