Valve Lash Adjustment

I just picked up a 92' F2 and want to check the valve lash. I need to know how to align all the cylinders in order to check em individually. Can someone give me a quick breakdown? Thanks.

Wow. Great write up, but holy lengthy process. On my old civic's inline four, I had it down to a science. All you needed were feelers, a wrench, and allen keys. I could rev that to 9500... but I guess you don't want allen lockers rattling loose at 15k rpm...

I don't understand why I'm hesitant to do this. I built three motors for my car and never blinked... but for some reason taking this bike apart is like taboo in my mind...

While we are on the subject, has anyone ever seen a case of a bike with ~20k (what mine has) give or take actually have valves so out of adjustment that it caused running issues?

Re: Valve Lash Adjustment

It is a bit daunting to jump into the top end, especially if you havent done it before. But take your time, keep everything organized and just think twice(work once). I have seen valves go out that fast. A loose valve will cause harmonics that you can feel, a tight one will get worse as the bike warms up. A loose one may be noisy at worst, a tight one can burn up a valve. Follow my post and you cant go too wrong!
