Bought a spare '97 F3 engine...now what?

So i bought a spare engine off some dude. The engine is in excellent condition and has 8000 miles.

The reason i bought the engine is because my '97 F3 has a crap load of miles, approx. 42,000, and is beginning to make a knocking noise when she's under load.

The guy i bought it from only wanted $300 for it, so i said why not.

My question to y'all is, should i do anything to the engine before i store it?

And, how long does an engine swap like this take a good mechanic?

Thanks,

joe

Build a go-kart? heh. Actually, just hang on to it. 42k is a lot of miles for a bike, but it is a honda. Also, have you done the valve adjustment on that 42k mile bike? Mal-Adjusted valves make noise...! Also, maybe your cam chain tensioner? I've read on this very site that an engine can be swapped by someone who knows what they are doing in like 3-6 hours.

yea, the go-kart thing came up in another discussion board too .

I've done the tensioner replacement recently, but the valves should be adjusted because i'm starting to hear a noise (as mentioned in my 1st post) that is making me a little nervous.

Thanks for the reply man.
