| battery dies quickly on my f3 Hi,
so my battery dies very quickly on my f3 and I was just wondering if anyone could help me figure this out. my best guess is that its the charging system but can anyone tell me how to test it to see which part is actually causing the problem, the stator or the rectifier.
I've heard honda's charging system is kinda bad, but I wanna make sure first what is wrong and repair it instead of changing my entire charging system.
battery dies like after 30 mins of riding...also, dumb question, how do I check for leakage and lose cables?
and the battery os pratically brandnew and it only discharged below 20% 3 times..do you think that might have caused severe damage?
thanks for your hel[ |

| Re: battery dies quickly on my f3 Check the stator and the regulator/rectifier. That is 2/3's of the charging system; with the last being the battery.
You will need a voltmeter. |

| Re: battery dies quickly on my f3 how do I check the stator and the rectifier. I put a volt meter on the battery just now..the results:
bike off : 12.8 volts
bike on: 12.4 volts
giving gas at 3k rpm :jumped from 12.4 - 12.8
at 5-6k rpm : 13.4
so I know it at least is giving some electricity, any ideas as to why it doesn't reach the 14 volts mark? I'm kind of a noob when it comes to the mechanical stuff so please give some instructions as to how to do somethings.
btw, does anyone have or know where I can get an e copy of the manual?

| Re: battery dies quickly on my f3 Buy the manual; it has all the testing procedures and so much more. It is well worth the money. You could even try eBay, motorccle shop or a bookstore.
You can get some testing procedures here: ElectroSport Industries - Motorcycle, Dirt Bike and ATV Aftermarket Electrical Parts |
