| Bad Engine Noise After Wheelies Hey Guys,
Desperately need some help. Went out last night and took my medicine (20 minutes of wheelies on my 1998 CBR 600 F3). After the last one (didnt come down to hard), I am now getting a hollow metallic sound from the tank/air box area when I get into the 6-10k RPM range. It almost like there is a hole in the exhaust pipe, but there is not. I took the fuel tank off and the fuel breather tube was missing....replaced it and still the same problem. I cant find any disconnected hoses. I did not open up the airbox. I had a similar issue on my 1998 GSXR 750 and found a disconnected hose under the fuel tank (super easy fix), but this is not as easy. Any help would make you an awesome person. Thanks guys and ride on.

| Re: Bad Engine Noise After Wheelies It's probably your cam chain tensioner. They rattle on these f3's. Especially if you think it's coming from the motor itself. Listen to the cam chain side at idle and rev it gently... If you hear that rattle and it's similar, that's your answer. |

| Re: Bad Engine Noise After Wheelies Check the throttle actuator.
If that's bad, you're screwed and there's no hope. Might as well sell the bike.

| Re: Bad Engine Noise After Wheelies thank you guys so much for the help. I found my front sprocket chain guard had a loose bolt and my exhaust is not connected to the frame (and looks like it needs to be bent in order to do be - so i think this is not the issue). I will have everything back together for a test tomorrow. I will feel like a jackass if it was a loose plastic sprocket guard but I will let you all know either way....thanks again and if you have any other suggestions, please send. Ive got all the plastic off of my baby so its a good time for whatever. Thanks again to all of you.
