Cams for CBR600RR

Hi everyone,

We have a formula SAE car with a Honda CBR 600RR engine. The team has access to 2 complete engines one for the dyno and one for the car. We have a problem where we seem to have cams from cbr 600 engines of different years and we would like to tune the dyno engine so that it is as close as possible to the engine that is run in the car. First we need to know what cams we have available. The cam profiles have been measured and both the intake and exhaust cams are different on each set. Our supervisor at uni suggested that one of the profiles (I think it was an exhaust cam) looks like it was from a cam that used hydraulic tappets because of the smoothness at the tail ends of the profile. I dont think this is likely since both engines that we have, have normal bucket valve lifters with shims, but does anyone know if this was introduced at some point .

The id marks on the cams were as follows
Intake Cam 1: MEE IN - F R1
Exhaust Cam 1: MEE EX - L R2

Intake Cam 2: MEE IN - K R2
Exhaust Cam 2: MEE EX - F R1
Does anyone know what year engine any of these cam sets are from?
Any help would be really appreciated
Thanks
Toufic

Re: Cams for CBR600RR

Thanks Charles I had a look at some parts microfiches, but they don't give the specific id marks for camshafts of different years that are similar to what is marked on the cames. We will try and ask Honda since we aren't sure the exact year that engines are from, we think most likely they are from 03-04. We have the engine numbers so we can check directly with Honda.
