| Over Heating I got my 2002 honda F4i started and running fine but after a couple laps in the neighborhood, it over heats to around 200+? why is this happening? Maybe because it sat for 3 years the thermostat is ****ed and is not regulating the coolent which is full in the radiator? any suggestions on how to fix this problem? Thanks |

| Re: Over Heating Well if youre goin around the neighborhood only, that sounds normal because speed shouldnt be that high. Have yu taken it on the highway to see the same? Check that there is no air in the system also. Hell the system can more than likely use a good flush. |

| Re: Over Heating Is your fan coming on? It should, somewhere around 195° to 205° from what I've seen with mine. |

| Re: Over Heating mine stays around 175-180 on the highway.. if i'm on city streets with traffic it is usually in the low 200's depending on stop lights & how bad traffic is. my fan doesn't kick on until 224 degrees.. i have a 2002 honda cbr600f4i
keep in mind its getting to be the hottest part of summer & even the wind blowing thru is gonna be hot air.. so it will run warmer then if its 75out with a brisk breeze..
hope this helps.. |

| Re: Over Heating Mine is an 03 F4i and on really hot days just puttering around city streets it stays pretty well between 215 and 240 but when I can ride for a long time like on the highway or on a road with no traffic the engine cools off a lot. Something down to 180 or so. The bike feels hot but seems to be running just fine. |

did the bike shop laugh at you when u took it in there because it was reaching 200 degrees? in the service manual it states the thermostat doesn't start to open until 203 degrees and it could take 3-5 minutes for the valve to open completely. hope you didn't waste much money.. |
