Tires for my F4...

Thinking about the AVON 45's or the infamous pirelli Diablos...what do you guys recommend...

I commute about....30 miles a day on them...freeways...then weekends do some spirited canyon carving...

Re: Tires for my F4...

I have no experience with the Avons, but do have a pair of the Pirelli Diablos on my 929, which I had on my girlfriend's F4i for a while as well, and found them to be a great tire, probably the best I've experienced at doing everything I normally do.

I was a die hard Bridgestone 010 fan, but their profiles suffered noiticeably more for a given mileage compared to the Pirellis, and the Pirellis last longer (for me).

I don't think of the Diablos as being infamous, because they aren't an unpredictable tire, or poor performing. Quite the opposite, actually, so I guess that would make them 'famous'.

Re: Tires for my F4...

I think that any Pirelli/Metzler would be great for the street. I've raced every brand over the years on F2, F3, F4 but not very much on the street. The Dunlop 207/208 works well on the street but is a bit nervous. The Pirellis/Metzler are stable and confidence inspiring. Bridgerocks are good to start with but change handling characteristics as they wear. Michelin Pilot Sports are good all around tires too. I think the Diablos are the hot ticket.
