Engine vibration between 5000 and 6000 rpm

Hi used to ride bikes alot years ago. 4 months ago got started again after 15 years with 1999 CBR600 f4 25.000 miles on the clock.

At first i didn''t notice the vibration because I have been away from bikes for so long, stiil getting used to the buffeting of the elements, but As the weeks turned into months i noticed the vibration between 5000 and 6000, so much so that it numbs my nuts, and loosens the crash pins at the end of the handle bars.

I rode a couple of other f4''s and they seem smooth at those revs. I am really disappointed, and worried something horrible might happens if i don''t take the appropriate action in time.

Any idea as to what might cause this.

Hiya TMF,

It coulds be a who number of things.

The most obvious that springs to mind is:
1) Check the Fairings etc - If something is loose, or not set right and rubbing/Flapping against frame etc, it can resonate at a particular frequency - eg. at 6K RPM
** I've had this before **

2) If not that - The Carb syncronization needs to be checked.
** I've had this before **

3) If not that - Valve Clearances

I suggest you do (1) and if bike is soundly bolted together - take back to dealers - If they are good - you may get it looked at. If bad Dealer - you will probably need a major service - which will include (2) and (3) - Get this done at a decent workshop!

OTher US guys on this forum may be able to suggest a good shop to go to!

Cheers
Martin

Oh, and also maybe the Cam Chain TEnsioner - but you would be hearing clicking when idle at the lights etc if it was that

If rest of range is strong - then I'd suggest nothing majorly wrong with the bike - get that fixed, then enjoy the summer!

Cheers

thx, I'll get these things checked. I forgot to mention that it is more noticable on overun! But as i said After 6.000 it smooths out, and i don't hear any clicking... at least i haven't noticed it yet
