2001 F4i and Speedometer issues (F1)

A couple of day ago the F1 light came on while I was on the highway cruising along. The speedometer also read 0mph even though I was doing about 70pmh. When I was stopped, I shut it down, started it up, and the light was gone. I didn't think anything of it. This morning it happened again. The bike runs great besides the speedometer reading 0. I don't smell anything and the sensor looks clean of debris. Any suggestions?
