| Re: 2001 cbr F4i no fuel priming I have the same problem, if anyone knows I would really appreciate some help
it turns over, but just won't catch the fuel pump is good, the spark plugs are good, the ignition is good, and the ecm must be relatively good because it does do everything but start.
From what I have deduced there is no spark, and the pump does not prime I really am at a loss here so any help would be apreciated |

I'll let you know my results |

| Re: 2001 cbr F4i no fuel priming I jumped the black/white wire to the solid brown wire which made the pump prime and everything
so now I have to find out why I am not getting spark and then my baby will run
If anyone can help me find out why I am not gettin spark I would really appreciate it |

| Re: 2001 cbr F4i no fuel priming Here is the process I tried
1. So, locate the Fuel Cut off Relay. It should be on the right side of the rear frame above the rear passenger foot peg.
2. The relay you need is the one furthest back.
3. Disconnect the plug from the bottom of the relay.
4. Insert a jumper wire from the Brown Wire to the Black/White Wire.
5. With the jumper in place, turn the key to the "ON" position for 10 seconds.
6. After 10 Seconds, turn the key "OFF"
7. Remove the jumper wire and re-connect the plug into the relay.
8. Make sure the bank angle sensor is vertical and upright.
9. Turn the key to the "ON" position and flip the Run/Stop Switch to the Run position. You should now hear the fuel pump prime and the bike will now start.
My bike did not start because it did not give me spark, but made my fuel pump prime
I would give it a go

| Re: 2001 cbr F4i no fuel priming Hey Guys
had simular things happen to my bike.
Except mine let some fuel by even if the pump was not working.
If you can't jump the pump with 12V, take the electrical side of the pump off and clean the contact points with a file. Be careful!! not to damage the it while filing/sanding
I did this to my pump cuz the contacts got dirty from arcing. I also used a bigger fuel cut relay, cuz honda wanted 70 for it. I think the pump contacts arced, drawing more juice to the relay.
Anyway, you can check to see if the relay is working by using the three wires.
At fuel cut off relay there is a plug.
Don't know which order they are, but 1 is return to pump. 2. 12V trigger(low amp) 3. 12V (high amp) which powers the pump.
Hope this helps.

| Re: 2001 cbr F4i no fuel priming Hey guys. Sounds like you were having the same problem that I was having. It turned out to be the headlight harness. The green wire (ground) had a bad connection. Follow your head light harness to the left of the bike where it plugs into the main harness(its a gray connector) and make sure that green wire is not corroded out and is tight. I hear that's a very common issue on these bikes. It you need pics let me know and I will be happy to send you a link. |

| Re: 2001 cbr F4i no fuel priming Yeah man I got AIM. My screename is Rwdirtbike.
But you said when you flip the kill switch you can hear a click which I would imagine would be the fuel cut relay and that means that it is good. I am not trying to rule that out as the problem but I have seen a lot of people think that was wrong, spend the money on a new one and then that doesn't fix it.
You said the bike ran fine before the battery went dead right? I know you probably tried this 100 times but put the battery on a charger and let it sit there for a while. These bikes need a full battery to run. One time my bike would turn over fine and seemed like it should start but wouldn't. Put the charger on it and it fired right up.
Another thing to double or triple check is the kick stand switch. Make sure the bike is in neutral. We have all forgot that once or twice. You might want to bypass that switch to see what happens.
When you turn the key on what lights come on on your cluster? |

| Re: 2001 cbr F4i no fuel priming Sorry man that sucks. I thought it might not fix it though. The relays are not known for going out. Snap a pic of your cluster when the key is on and post it. |

| Re: 2001 cbr F4i no fuel priming i'm having this problem on my 2002 F4i also. checked all the fuses, and headlights work. I am getting spark, and tested both the engine cutoff relay and the fuel cut off relay relays and they both click when i gave them voltage. the fuel pump does not prime, but I connected the pump directly to the battery and it worked. When i turn the kill switch on I dont hear any click from the relay. I also bypassed the tip-over sensor and that didn't help so i'm assuming thats fine too. so then I followed these steps CadilacWill posted 1.
When I put the shorted wire on, the fuel pump started going so I started the bike and it ran fine. Unfortunately after i put the relay back I was back to square one with it not starting again
thanks for any help |
