CBR600F3 - won't start

Turning the key all lights come on as per normal, clicking the starter makes the lights turn off, as it should, but the bike won't turn over. Rather it only generates a loud clicking noise from the battery relay. If I press the starter button for a second it will click once, if I keep holding down the starter button it will start to click rapidly.

All fuses are good including the main 30A. The battery is happily on ~12.5V, trying to start it sends it down to ~3V, it clicks, release starter button and it shoots back up to 11.7-12V.

I've got the battery on charge at the moment.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a weak battery, if problem happens again replace with new battery.

Re: CBR600F3 - won't start

Thanks for the input guys. I had tried a different battery to no avail.

I did solve the problem however. Whilst conducting a ground test on the starter relay I found that it was just a bad connection in the spade plug. By sticking the multimeter needle into the plug it was enough to get it going. I gave the pin a clean and she starts like a champion.
