| Spring Swap on a Conventional fork? Anyone swapped their own springs in the 600RR forks? It appears to not take a tool like a USD fork will, but has anyone done it successfully. I normally send my stuff to dan, but I am gonna just swap springs first and see how it goes before I do a whole fork job.
Anyone? Tips and pointers would be nice too...
Thanks! |

| Re: Spring Swap on a Conventional fork? I did my 929 forks without special tools. Most forks with dampening rods will be the same procedure, you just need to compress the spring dow enough to slip a wrench in so you can unscrew the top of the dampener. |

| Re: Spring Swap on a Conventional fork? For anyone interested...
I did a lot of research on fork jobs for the RR and after weighing all the info I could find, I decided to go with a DK job on the front end and a penske rear. We'll see how it goes. I had a DK fork job on my 929 and an ohlins rear, and a Traxxion front end on my RC with a penske rear. I hope to get the forks off the bike by monday sometime. The worst thing about working with dan kyle is he's in CA and I am in NC. So shipping is either super expensive or still "expensive" and slow... sigh. Oh well, february is a better time to do it than any other time, so here goes... |

| Re: Spring Swap on a Conventional fork? If it'll make you feel better CCwilli, I shipped my forks to Dan last Feb and I got them back pretty quickly. And, shipping from NJ was only around $12. I went to a UPS customer service location had them shipped directly from there rather than using a 3rd party like Mailboxes Etc. which, IMO, charges way too much. |

| Re: Spring Swap on a Conventional fork? Thanks HG,
DK is da man! He turns forks around quickly. Thing is, for me, its ground, (which is 6 working days) for less than $20 or so, or $30+ for 3 day air... Not trusting UPS like I do, I prefer to not have the forks in their possesion on a truck for too long, so whether I need them or not, I will probably get them sent air both ways... Sigh. Oh well, at least they'll be RIGHT when I get them back! |

| Re: Spring Swap on a Conventional fork? FYI, I did this and it was no problem without any special tools on a conventional fork.
Anyone need specifics, feel free to PM or email me, but its easy... |
