Just trying to make a statement. Ive tried several brands including the EBC's and prefer the DP's. Starting with my first set in 2001, I havent found a reason to go back to anything else.

Re: f3 brake pads

I understand where Niner is coming from, because after racing the F2 and F3 for many years and trying most pads out there I can without a doubt say that the Galfer BR03 compound flat out worked better than anything else for me. The EBC HH pads are something I will never use again, as no matter what I did to my rotors and/or calipers they drug like mad. The Galfer, OEM Honda and Vesrah were the only ones that didn't drag much, with the Galfers outbraking everything out there. The CP 911*s worked well too, but I didn't like their feel.

Re: f3 brake pads

BDA, Interesting that you suggest that a specific brand of brake pad "drags" more than another? Any reason you might think that? Did you clean the calipers the same way for all the brands you have used in the past? I've always heard and had the same experience as you that the F2/F3 calipers drag more than other caliper brands.

A racing buddy had a Gixxer 750 front end on his SV and he never serviced his calipers using EBC HH GFA*** pads. There was never any pad drag for him!

Re: f3 brake pads

I can't say why some brands did and some didn't. When I tried out the EBC pads I actually ended up rebuilding the calipers while trying to nail down the drag. The rotors were always cleaned the same way when switching pads.
After rebuilding the calipers and still having the drag, all I did was swap to the Galfers and sand the rotors. It was like a lightswitch, seriously.

Re: f3 brake pads

I wonder if there was something unique with the pad compound of the EBC's that adversely affects the seals? The binder may collect and act like "glue" in the seals? The Galfer's might use something different that doesn't react in the same fashion. I'll have to try some next season! I hate the "drag" too.

That's possible. The BR03 pads are a carbon based material, not a sintered metallic. The metallic compound may be what is causing the reaction.
