Molybednium Disulfide (moly for short) is a excellent high temp lubricant! It is actually attracted to and works better the higher the temp of the part it is lubricating. Problem is the clutch gets pretty hot, it attracts it, lubes it, slips it, glazes it up, ruins it. Its fine in moderate hp bikes or bikes with dry or separate clutches (Ducs, HDs).

To sum it up, the only thing that can possibly be bad is that it may cause clutch slippage. If that is not happening for you, I would not worry about it.

I put an oil with Moly in my 929 when it had just a few thousand miles on it, and the clutch did slip, ever so slightly. I changed it out right away, and the slipping went away. Some other people have not noticed any slipping after going to an oil with Moly. In general, it is best to get a synthetic without moly.

You can use synthetic oil just make sure it does not have molly. Honda HP4 without molly will work fine. The HP4 with molly was designed for the 1200 and 1500 Goldwings. The molly will cause the clutch to SLIP, no question about it.

I never heard that before. I used HP4 in my F2 back when when it was a true 102rwhp bike on the street. Never had a problem. When I took it to the track....slippage. Tried some Motul semi-synth, no moly, it was fine.

Once again, HP4 w/o molly is fine in all modern (99 up) Honda motorcycles. Our shop does NOT even sell the HP4 with molly any longer.
