Whats the weight of a CBR400 NC29?

Hiya All,

Hope you can definitively clear this one up!

Some place say: 185Kg
Others say: 163Kg

I can't really put the bike on the scales in the bathroom!
The LCG Frame can be deceptive, but my cbr600 FT seems really heavy now!

Please advise!

According to the Haynes manual.... dry weights are as follows

J model = 179kg
K model = 182kg
L, N & R models = 180kg

My NC23 feels really light, I was shocked to read my manual and see it was 180. Must be because it's so compact?

I'd be more inclined to believe a dry weight of 163Kg. I've also seen that figure written down somewhere, but can't remember where.

lol. sorry, but if they're not defined (such that, without fluids, battery, etc.), then it's hard to compare the dry weight to anything.

curb/wet weights are the ones that are helpful.

No no, not at all!

Its something that has been bugging me, thats all!

The difference between 180 and 163Kg is huge in terms of a sports bike. Try holding that weight, (Use training weights) and toss it from side to side.

yeah, i know. but neither number is credible because it is a "dry weight". get it?

for example suzuki will list thier GSXR 600 at a dry weight of 359lbs (163 kg.). however, the real weight (curb weight) is around 435lbs (198 kg). we all know the fluids don't measure 76 lbs! so, where do they come up claiming 359 lbs in the first place?! they won't say.

the point being is that the dry weight is lie, a bold face lie.

curb weight:
1996 CBR600 203Kg
1992 CBR400 185kg

thats sounds a bit more right!

Unfortunately the curb weight of your 400 is closer to 200.

Dry weight does not include a battery (5-10lbs, water, oil, gas (which is around 6lbs per gallon) and brake fluid. My CBR400RR on a scale with a full tank of gas weighed in at 365lbs
