| Starting Tips needed on a NC29! Hiya All, RE:Starting Tips needed on a NC29!
Just got bike back, Runs brilliantly!
Starting is still a pain though. Quite probably my technique!
(Only started 2 times though, since getting the bike back.)
Any tips for realiable starting guys??
I'm always scared of frying the coils etc. So I keep letting go of the START button after a few seconds. I do a blip of the throttle, which normally always works on my 1996 CBR6, but perhaps may not be the way to go with a 1992 cbr4! (Flooding the cold chambers - way to go! )
I seem to have to hold the "Start" button for ages, before the CBR4's engine catches. (and thinking about it, thats probablay a good time to blip the throttle!)
Are old carb'd bikes just a bit more harder to start than newer stuff?
(I'll ride the bike a bit more, experiment on best way to start the bike, before freaking out about the "service" its just had! 8)
Cheers

| Re: Starting Tips needed on a NC29! When mine was running well, I'd normally give it a quarter to a half twist of the throttle while firing her up. She'd always start first time, but may die if you don't keep the revs up for about 30 seconds. Something around 2,500 to 3,000. Once a bit of heat's got around the block she'd be ok. |

Ah... instead of using the Choke - use the throttle instead?
Please advise!

Martin | Yep, that's right. But then it's usually around 35 degrees over here, so I wouldn't want to use the choke. In the UK, I would think things are probably different. |

| Re: Starting Tips needed on a NC29! Yes.. I do sometimes..
The choke cable might be broke (Sideshow snapped mine while trying to get it working for me) or seriously stiff, ie needin a bit of lubrication.. they arn't expensive to replace..
