| RE:Can I get fork protectors for a CBR400? Hiya All,
RE:Can I get fork protectors for a CBR400?
Ie some kind of protection against pitting - so the Fork Seals aren't damaged when I Pump the forks etc?
My 1996 CBR600 has these little black plastic guards just before the Fork seals
- Can I get the smae for the CBR400?
- how do they go on? Will they wrap around, or do I need to do, when I get around to dropping out the Forks?
Is it even worth doing?
Hope you can advise

| Re: Can I get fork protectors for a CBR400? I'm not too sure what you mean. My 400 has an inner seal guard, which can be seen from the outside. It looks like a seal but it just keeps out the dirt between the two tubes of the fork.
Can you show us a photo of the area in question? |

| Re: Can I get fork protectors for a CBR400? there is nothing specific that I know of, although you might be able to borrow something from the dirt biking world.
There is a product called "seal savers" that would do the job, or maybe a fork boot. Some older street bikes ran fork boots.
Just keep them cleaned out or you can develope other problems. |

| Re: Can I get fork protectors for a CBR400? Sorry mate. You got me on that one. The only protection mine has is the standard 'O' ring seal that sits (visibly) between the two tubes that make up the fork. The roads here are always sandy and grubby (occasionally wet as well) but the standard seals have held up well. Do you really need more? |

| Re: Can I get fork protectors for a CBR400? I think he is looking to protect the tubes where they are exposed above the seal and below the triple clamps. It's pretty common for street bikes to receive damage in this area. |

| Re: Can I get fork protectors for a CBR400? Forgive me if I'm just being neanderthalic, but doesn't the bike's fairing and the wheel guard protect that area? They don't look like they'd cover much. |
