Re: Need Help with De-restriction

The bike doesnt wanna go past 160KMH on the clock. The bike rides fine but most people with the same bike seem to be able to pass 180 KMH easily. Ive removed the restricting disc in side the speedo like most others have done but it doesnt make any difference.

Ill try and get some photos soon..

Hang on.. if your under 21 shouldn't you be riding a restricted bike anyway if you have passed either the direct access test or the 125 bike test..

I do know how to derestrict your bike but I'm sorry I'm not going to tell you how.. If you did it after I told you how and you had an accident and killed/maimed yourself or someone else I would never forgive myself..

Yes. but like Loopy said there's good reason to hang on. She's not trying to annoy you she's trying to help you and, I'm afraid, I support her in this. Wait awhile... it's worth it.

Try and think of it as us saving you gas money so that you can buy something cool for the bike later on.

Re: Need Help with De-restriction

i can only imagine what i would have done to myself if i had started riding at 18 or before.. even when i was 24 and got my 600 it was a rediculous amount of power that i was not ready for.. be cautious and take your time..

Re: Need Help with De-restriction

The reason bike are restricted to 33bhp is so that a new/young rider has a fairly controlable amount of power to play with.. even restricted the bike will easily reach 90mph and will with a bit of effort go over the ton, and that is enough for young/novice riders.. they are slower, slightly, to accellerate but all this is in place so that people can learn how to ride a bigger bike a bit more safely..
If a bike is de-restircted before you either reach 21 or before your restriction on your licence ends, it can mean, as far as the police are concerned, that you are riding without insurance, as it will invalidate it in the event of an accident, it also means you are not licenced to ride the bike.. All that = sh*t loads of points on your new bike licence!!!
Plus a novice/young rider may be at risk from an accident if they dont know how to control the power of the bike..

Re: Need Help with De-restriction

Jones, I’m not sure what you are trying to accomplish here.

If you took your restricted test at 17, you would only have to wait another year before you can LEGALLY de-restrict your bike and ride it with full BHP.

I am not too sure how you managed to get insurance on a 400cc bike without the restricted certificate, it would only be if the bike was produced with 33BHP/or less when made – which I highly doubt.

You have already shown your maturity by riding at 100MPH which in itself is illegal and an instant ban for you (speeding is now 6 points), so take my advice, until you can respect yourself, the bike, the road, its surroundings and other lives around you, please for heavens sake don’t ride.

This world is bad enough with immature inexperienced riders out there thinking they are Rossi and taking the lives of innocent people.

Sorry for sounding mean but its my view and opinion.

Re: Need Help with De-restriction

Sorry to drag this one out again, but can someone PM me how to derestrict my CBR400rr?

Im 25 and im sure she's resticted as she's slower than the cb500 i did my test on!

Would the regulator make her backfire? and have less power as well?

First, Brakedust, Secondly, if your bike is backfiring, this may well be why it's not running quickly. It makes far more sense to get the problem sorted out first and then to look at de-restricting it. Otherwise you could be compounding your problem.

To answer your question, I would say that it is unlikely to be the regulator. They normally just backfire once and then die. Perhaps the bike needs a thorough carb clean and balance - and don't forget to give the spark plugs a clean as well.

If the problem is still present, I would suggest you start checking the electrical contacts - on one occasion, I found one of the low-tension leads to the coils had worked itself loose and this was the cause of an occasional back fire. Also check the fuel filter. If it's old, maybe dirt is getting to the carbs causing a blockage.

Lots of things can cause a back-fire. It's a process of elimination. Good luck
