| CBR400 Tyre Info I've been thinking about tyres (I know, I'm a strange woman ) and thought a tyre thread might be a good idea as a source of information for the people on here as well as any new CBR400 members..
What tyres are you running on your bike..
Why you chose them, or did they come on your bike..
How would you rate them..
What tyre pressures are you using..

| Re: CBR400 Tyre Info Ok.. have been out and crawled round garage floor (the things I do for this site ) to find out what tyres were on my bike.. I knew they were Metzlers but that was about it
So this is whats on my bike..
Front: Metzler MeZ3f, 120/60
Rear: Metzler MeZ4r, 160/60
Tyre pressure wise they are at 33f/33r as that is what my manual said to use and I cant find a definitive answer anywhere else.. tyre pressures are a hotly debated subject!!!!
I didnt choose them, they came on my bike and in all honesty I know nothing about tyres, plus apart from my 125 have only ever ridden with these tyres, so cant tell you whether they are any good or not |

But thank you for getting dirty, glad to see I can fit a 160. |

Unfortunately cannot help you with advice on your tyre situation as I have had my bike since march and have only had experience of the tyres which are on it.. maybe some of the others will be able to advise you when they come on.. |

| Re: CBR400 Tyre Info Ok from what I have been told putting a wider tyre on your bike with the same rims means that you will have less rubber on the road due to the sharper profile.
I would also stick to tyre reccomendations given in haynes or at least whats printed on the tyre for solo riding etc.. |

| Re: CBR400 Tyre Info This what my Haynes manual has to say on the subject of tyres and which sizes are recommended..
J & K models..
Front: 120/60-R17 55
Rear: 150/60-R18 67H
L, N & R Models..
Front:120/60-R17 55H
Rear: 150/60-R17 66H
I'm running a 160 rear tyre and to be honest the handling ISN'T rubbish on my bike.. its brilliant |

| Re: CBR400 Tyre Info I race my CB-1. I run Pirelli Dragon SuperCorsas. 110/70 front and 150/60 rear. I have run a 120 front before with only difference being that I dont get to the edge of the tire. Great tires! I mostly run the soft compounds, but sometimes run the SuperSoft front. I once ran a set of these for an entire year. 9 race weekends and was lowering my personal best lap time each weekend! They were really worn out by that 9th weekend. But they gave me the experience of knowing what its like to ride on worn tires because they were moving around alot! Great Great tires!!! |

| Re: CBR400 Tyre Info As your all more experienced with the NC29 than myself while reading this thread I was wondering why some of you want to ride with fatter tyres than standard, so apart from your bike came with them when you bought it is there a reason to put a fatter tyre than recommended, what difference would there be in the handling, is it just to look better from behind etc.. I would have thought that less rubber on the road would be a bad thing for everyday riding, just curious I suppose. |

| Re: CBR400 Tyre Info My rear tyre is on a slightly higher profile than spec - not out of choice, that's just what was available. She seems to roll over into turns so much easier that it was unsettling at first. Now I prefer it. |

| Re: CBR400 Tyre Info Hiya loopy, well since my last post in this thread I bought a pair of the cheapest Pirelli Diablos in standard sizes to try out. Although im no expert they seem fine and can really let you dive into corners with ease with their low profile, something that i was not used to on my other commuter bikes.
Has any one tried these tyres and if so what are your thoughts? |

Thanks to LoopyLee for starting this thread it helped me alot |

| Re: CBR400 Tyre Info Mine had Dunlops on it when I bought it 6 months ago, but the back tire was pretty well worn when I got it. I recently replaced them with Continentals. The previous owner had 120/60 on the front and 170/60 on the back, so I stuck with the same size. Haven't really ridden on them enough yet, but so far, I love the Continentals - I think they handle great in all weather. My husband thinks they feel a little "tippy" in the corners, but I haven't noticed that when I ride. |

I bought it myself when I first bought the bike I`ve been adviced to get the original sizes (120/60 F and 150/60 R ) but I tried the 160/60 on my friend`s bike and it was so good so I decided to get one . |

| Re: CBR400 Tyre Info just wondered what milage people were gettin gout of there tires. i have bridgstone Bt090 120/60 up front and 150/60 at the other end. i find the foot pegs on the floor before any drama from the rubber itsself, bit skittish in damp conditions though.
i ask about milage as i have done 1500 miles on a new set of tires and the rear is already hovering just above the wear indicators.
no burnout's or skids just riding, ok maybe fast but surley i should be getting better milage than that. |
