Re: 2008 Honda CB400

I for one LOVE the retro look, its one of the reasons I bought my Z650, fell in love big time with them 20 odd years ago and its a love that has never died.. SSB thinks I'm nuts, but I dont care

Judging by the look in your face, SSB may have a point! Are you talking about the Kawi650 4 of the late 70s? That was just a small Z1/900, but I agee they look pretty and remind us older folk of the bikes we dreamed of getting when we got older. At some point we were old enough to buy a bike on our own but they had gotten older too, beat up and outdated. In 84 I had a chance to buy a big bike, I had found a a 78 Z1-R, an 82 Z1000R (Lawson Replica) and a nearly new GPZ750. The GPZ out accelerated, out braked, and out turned the bigger older bikes. So I went with it. Now, 25 years later I still wish I had gotten that replica or the Z1R and still had them but now I like the ZRX1200R.
Those big naked retro bikes now don't really look like the originals but like replicas of the Superbike racers of the early 80s.
Very often I see one of these CB400s on the street and if a little person is riding it I confuse it with the CB1 or CB1300 and they look just as good.
But are these bikes really good bikes? For their price tags, other than looks, what do they have to offer? An FZ6 in comparison is very usable, and looks like a space shuttle compared to a horse carriage next to those retro bikes.
I also like the W650 Kawi.
