oh and not to open another thread today while riding, lets say the maltese roads arent good at all, anyways at one point i got a small splatter of green liquid on my visor after further checking it seems the radiator has some on it too is it the coolant fluid? probably leaked cos of bumpy roads?

Jonny, the 400 CBRs (I guess that is what you're riding) really do like the 10w40. That said, if you're going to go for a fully synthetic oil, go for something like a 5w40 or 0w50. You live in a hot country, like me. Yet after having several Thais tell me I should go for 20w50 and then trying it, I can tell you my gear shifting felt crunchy and the bike just seemed to lack a little bit of power.

Though I could have just imagined the lack of power, one thing was certain. Once I went back to the 10w40, the bike felt much better and the gear changes were pretty much perfect. I stayed with that oil type for three years until I sold it.

One other thing I'd like to add. Just because you use a fully synthetic oil don't forget to make regular oil changes and always change the filter at the same time. You won't regret it.

Re: oil type

hey surffrog thanks for the reply!

so what do you suggest i do? should i go ahead and try out the 15w50? then after switch to 10w40 when it needs the change? and when you said change oil frequently since its fully synthetic, after how much should i change it?

thanks

You can give it a try and see if the bike gear shifts and runs okay. If all feels good, then it's up to you whether you stick with it. As to how often you change the oil is dependent on your use of the bike rather than the type of oil you use. If you ride the bike everyday and spend a lot of time in stop/start traffic then I would change it every 1,500 to 2000 miles. If you only ever do long and non-stop/start journeys then you can extend that.
