| Loss Of Power... My babies poorly
She's lost her 'ooooomph', her factor, her zest
I noticed it on the way to work, it's like she is suffering from fuel starvation. She sounds a bit like she does when I need to switch to the reserve fuel supply, kinda 'grumbly' BUT she reeks of petrol....
She felt as if I had her in too high a gear and I was trying to accellerate in the wrong gear and my poor baby was struggling..
I'm going to service her anyway, as she is overdue one, so now have lovely fresh oil, a new oil filter and fresh set of plugs for her but now have to find out why she is struggling like she is...
Poor baby |

I do need help sometimes, normally stubborn things which won't come undone but apart from that I tend to work on her myself and if I'm not sure of something I will ask for help the first time, to make sure I'm doing things the right way, but normally after that first time I'm ok. Plus I also use my bike manual to help me... How else am I gonna learn about her?
He took her out for a test ride this morning and I was hovering by the gate at work until he bought her back.. This might sound really horrible but I don't even like SSB riding her She's MY baby |

| Re: Loss Of Power... Loopy this sounds like Akira did when one of the throttle position sensor wires broke. That wiring is getting older now and it isn't so easy to spot or trace. Mine broke right by the connector so it was quite easy to get to and fix. The only thing is I don't remember a smell of fuel. Because of that, I'm inclined to agree with Twin. Check your float needles are opening and shutting and, while you're there, check the vacuum rubbers at the top of the carb needle sliders. You'll have to be careful with them as they can tear easily, but get them out of the carb and give them a gentle pull to see if there are any small tears developing.
Good luck with it. |

So, clean everything, new air filter, and thoroughly check ALL wiring.
Keep us posted on results. |

I'll tell you one thing, that £17 I forked out last year for an original tool kit for the bike was worth every blinkin penny Having the correct spark plug socket for my bike made changing the plugs a piece of cake That and my trusty piece of rubber tubing for putting them back in
As for what is causing the loss of power........ Quote:

I took the air box off and looked under the carbs and the plastic tube which feeds back to the scottoiler was lying beside the the bit which actually attaches to the engine... |
