It's the best stuff available here in Thailand.
Sorry I can't help on the size of tank for the NC23. I've never owned one. |

| Re: what Fuel do you use ? 107.9 Per Litre! Down here we have wars to see who can stay under a pound! Morrisons and Asda started off the war, Sainsburys followed but Tescos are not really getting the hang of the whole thing
I run standard unleaded/regular (Tried a higher octane one once but she started pinking*) Quote:

* Detonation (Pinking)
Pinking usually occurs when ignition timing is over advanced or when the octane number of the fuel is inadequate for the engine. The octane requirement of the engine will increase over time due to carbon and deposit buildup in the combustion chamber. The octane requirement normally varies cyclically as the combustion chamber deposits build up and then flake off. This is why many cars stop pinking after a high speed/high load run.

| Re: what Fuel do you use ? From what I understand, unless a vehicle is specifically designed to run on Super Unleaded there's no point in using it. From the above posts, it seems like it could even decrease performance!
For the last few years, BMW bikes have been set up to use either, but offer increased performance when running on Super Unleaded. Interesing, huh.... |

I think in the booklet it says you should use regular - any higher and mine starts acting weird.

. | All fuel here in MT is contains up to 10% ethanol. A few gas stations sell ethanol free fuel advertised as snowmobile gas. I think it really plays hel! with two strokes. One of the canyons I ride has a station at the base that sells ethanol free fuel and next time I am going to give it try. I tried it a few years ago and can't remember any difference. |

i have read over the internet that gasoline with ethanol is bad on carburated motorcycles. | This is why I use shell V power, because it's the only fuel here in Thailand at the moment that isn't mixed with ethanol. Otherwise I'd stick with regular. Quote:

The government tells everyone that they've done all the tests on cars from the 90s to the present day and that it's fine. However, the manufacturers of the cars the government says it has tested say that any tests they themselves have run on vehicles not prepared and set up for it have experienced problems. They also refuse to warranty any engine work resulting from the use of ethanol-mixed fuel. We also have the additional problem of the fuel not necessarily being mixed correctly. At the moment, I know a lot of people stay with Shell V power even if it is a higher octane rating than is required for their car or bike purely because it is the most consistent fuel in terms of quality. |

my old cbf500 run better on regular unleaded and i got better mpg as wall when i used the lower octane fuel and the 107.9 Per Litre! is for shell V power
i think there regular unleaded is about 101.9 per litre
i've only every run the cbr on regular once as when i got it it needed fuel and i couldn't fined a shell so since then i've run it on shell even if i have to go out of my way to get the fuel
and i've been told that you need to run a engine on the same fuel for 4/5 tank fulls to get the benefit from the higher octane fuel |

I run 98RON in all my vehicles as it gives me more tank range.
I put a tank of 91RON in the car a couple of weeks ago (didn't want to wait for the pump to free up) and it pinged like a bastard :-)
