My battery on my NC29 91 model isn't charging... common uncommon

My battery on my NC29 91 model isn't charging... common uncommon

Hi i have a nc29 1991 gull arm and im having a problem with a loss of power. The battery isnt being charged when running. When i stop and try and start again the battery is dead. Its a new battery so its not the battery at fault. Ive put a multi meter over it and ther is no charging happening can anyone help????

Good chance its your regulater/rectifier, check this first.

Check the voltage on the battery with the bike running, It should increase front approx 12v to 14v. If this is not happening then the altenator is fecked. If that is the case, you could bring it into motor rewind shop for repair. (Auto electrican) or consider a new one, depending on price.

If the alternator is faulty the battery will not charge.

In more detail - it should be 12v approx with the engine off & 14v approx with engine on. The additional 2v is where the charge is achieved from.

Sorry for the late arrival but I would have to say go with Forkman's test. The symptoms do sound very much like the stator coil's gone bye bye.

Btw, while I don't believe for one second this is a reg/rec problem, just because it's brand new don't rule it out of any investigation in the future. Honda units are particularly bad for going bang when you least expect it.
