Hummmm. I would still check the wiring that I suggested earlier, if only to rule it out or catch a potential future problem before it starts rearing its ugly head.
And if not that, then we need to look at other factors. Does this always happen or only at specific (day or night) times/ temperatures (engine hot or cold), etc? If it is a constant problem, there is the possibility that a breather pipe has fallen off the back of the airbox (or got itself kinked) or the the filter is clogged. Maybe the plugs are shot or the carbs need a clean and balance.
Is there a strong smell of fuel when this happens? If so, one or more floats in the carbs may need replacing. If not, it is also possible the fuel pump is beginning to die. Does it do the same thing if you are in neutral (i.e. parked up and the engine running but not under load?)
Firstly, I would take the tank and airbox off the bike. While there you can check to see whether the breather pipes where attached or kinked. Once the airbox is out of the way, check the carb operation while looking down the butterflies. Do they seem to be moving together all the way through the throttle range? Maybe one of the linkages have worked themselves loose. (Also there's always the possibility the cable mountings have worked themselves loose, too).
