NC23, wont start?? Has spark? Timing is correct?

Hi guys, in need of some serious help.
My 1989 NC23 wont start.
It has spark
Battery is fully charged
Timing is correct
Brand new plugs

When I pull the plugs out, they are like brand new, no colour change, no oil, no smell of petrol, nothing.

I've ordered new carbs as the old ones where knackered and these seem in very good nick.

On turn over i've used some easy start into the carbs and i get a pop from the exhaust. Nothing more.

Is the suction from the engine meant to pull fuel from the carbs? I took the carbs off and ran the pump to see if fuel would come out from the jet hole, and it didnt. So wondered if its the suction from the engine that draws the fuel out?

Should i try putting fuel into the carbs and seeing if it starts? Or what about taking the carbs off and spraying a tad bit of fuel straight into the block and see if she'll run then??

Any help would be soooo appreciated.

Re: NC23, wont start?? Has spark? Timing is correct?

I know this might seem too easy, but have you got the fuel tap on. The amount of times i have forgotten to switch it back on after doing some work on the bike. Or even check that the fuel is getting through to the engine. Could be something simple like a blocked fuel pipe or even fuel filter. Personally i would try the simple things first. Then move along the fuel lines untill you find and solve the problem. Once you have got to the carbs and it still isnt firing then thats when i would try putting fuel into the carbs and seeing if it will fire then. Hope that is of some help to you

Yeah i have fuel, and pulled it out of the fuel rail and have got fuel flowing freely through the fuel pump.
What should i look for in the carbs to indentify blocks etc?

Re: NC23, wont start?? Has spark? Timing is correct?

It just stopped running one day for no apparent reason?
Spray starter fluid or carb cleaner into the carbs while cranking. If it fires then it's clearly a fuel problem. If it doesn't fire then it's a spark, compression or ignition timing problem.
Yes, carbs operate by air being drawn through as the piston goes down the bore. This airflow creates low pressure in the venturi which siphons fuel up from the float bowl. The fuel pump has no effect on it as it merely fills the float bowls.

When i spray fuel into the carbs it fires out of the exhaust.
I think the issue is the fuel isnt getting into the engine.
Should i clean the float bowl and carb clean the jets???

Can you explain exactly what I need to do to complete this overhaul?
I was thinking carb cleaner through the floats and jets and needles....???
