| 1300 VTX needs help Hello, first let me say this is my first post to the site, but have enjoyed reading the post made by others. Now, can someone answer my problem? I enstalled a national cycle light bar on my 1300vtx, and wired it according to the instuctions, and used the power supply for the spot lights from the low beam power source to the headlight. After completing all this, I now have no neutral light, no temperature light, and the bike will not even try to start. I disconnected all the wirring that I had connected and still have no neutral light, or temperature light, and the bike does not make even a click when I press the start button. The tail light, headlight, horn and other stuff works but that's it. The battery seemed to be charged, but I now have it out and hooked to a charger just in case. If the headlight and horn seem strong, could the battery be weak enough that the nuetral light will not come on or the bike even try to start? Thanks in advance. |

| Re: 1300 VTX needs help Sounds like you blew a fuse. There should be some info in the owners book regarding what fuse controls those items. |

Do you know of any other fuses hidden somewhere on the bike other than the 30 amp main and the six sub fuses in the fuse panel? Man! I am lost! |

I did attempt to check the kill switch and as best as I can tell it is ok. When the kill switch died on you did it affect your neutral light from comming on? And, no, it is not a dumb question when directed to me especiallly. I always look for more complicated reasons and overlook the simple ones, which is what I hope is my problem is now. |

Common situation really . . .
There may be an inline fuse on your bike somewhere. Do you have a wiring diagram? That would help you trace the common element for the items that aren't working on the bike. Also, is there a tipover switch on the VTX? I would bet there is a clutch switch and kickstand switch as well. These can be designed to kill the engine circuits which may share common wiring with other components. |

Good idea on the tip over switch, and the rest.
I would look over anything that you touched during your modification.
Seems like any time you make a modification "something" happens! |

| Re: 1300 VTX needs help Well, I think I found my problem, or at least it will run now and I have the nuetral light. I finished installing the light bar, and a drive shaft cover, hywaybars, fats windshield and lowers, and topped it all off with the front fender trim that looks like a grill or bumper. Then to celebrate just got bac from a three and one half hour ride with my friends. Man, those lowers sure knock off a lot of wind! Well worth the money in cold weather. Thanks to all who replied and hopefully I will be able to help someone else some time. Thanks again and safe riding. |

Glad the bike is better, now maybe I can get a nights sleep without going over possible causes in my mind for half the night. Thanks again for all your help. |
