Leave it stock and learn to ride. When you're done, sell it to another newbie. The Rebel is one of the bst starter bikes ever made IMHO.

Re: Sound, and look for my Honda Rebel..

i have a pair of cut down shadow pipes on my rebel....I needed it a bit louder than the local neighborhood lawnmowers.

I also added a windshield and a set of tiny saddle bags....for this little lady a rebel is the only bike that i can fit on...It was basically made for my size person and i agree it is the perfect biketo start out on...it has a low centere of gravity it is light enough to pick up if you do somethign silly like say forget to put he kick stand down or somethig liket hat.

I plan on using her ( I bought a used 2001 with 1850miles onit and ive already put 600 on it) until i find anything that is low and thin enough for my petitish frame. i sat on a shadow but it is too wide for my frame....I have an old (1986) intruder that i havent been able to get going predictably...and well to be frank the length of a harley sprtster is just too long for my body to keep the entire thing up right...besides my sexy little rebel can fit int he back of a pick up truck in case of trouble and a smile and a $20 tip was all the fella that help me out of my jam woudl take if i had a shadow it would have cost me at least $125 for a trailer tow or i would have had to find someone with a trailer.

as far as harleys go think about it...what other thing would you purchase that every time you bumped into it somethign broke off?? i know if my cell phone broke everytime i dropped it i wouldnt want that brand....well i have a buddy whose kids arent very nice and they are forever knocking that baby over...each time there are pieces of one thing or another waiting for hiim.

My sexy little rebel has been dropped 3 times dropped not crashed there isnt even a scratch on her!! and hte foot pegs that i have on mine have heavy duty springs on it that assist you to pick it up when it goes down ( the only reason i can pick it up is because of those pegs they are the best)

so that is my 2 cents worth... i do wish i could find a seat back that i do but well hey whats a girl to do??

I have to agree, I rode 2000 miles on a harley and that will be the last, never again. God has invented real motorcycles!

I can tell you that i have had my rebel on the long island expressway doing shhhhhhh 75-80mph....can i keep up with a pack that takes the time to let me get the thing up into the speed zone?? yes....can i keep up with them if they want to be pricks?? no....

I can assure you that after putting 2500 miles i have ridden 2 tankfulls with is 150miles each in one day and although my back was killing me by the end of hte day...i did it.. (i did something called the Lady Liberty Run here in NY i live out on long island it offically started in manhattan up to bear mountain park and back) so you can do it...someone may not want to but if i wanted to i could..

In my humble opinion. a rebel is the perfect starter bike for someone that is looking for a cruiser not a sports bike...you sit on it as thoguh it were a bicycle your legs are bent it has central controls and well it is balanced very well.

Re: Sound, and look for my Honda Rebel..

I just got an '86 Rebel for a milestone birthday, I love it! I'm going to add and replace things as I go to make it "mine"! Being a not so tall woman rider this is perfect.
