My rebel has a SQUEAKOkay I have this rebel i love my rebel until i get my upgrade

i have my 2001 rebel 250....i love her...i will ride her until such a time that i upgrade her and then the son will be learning to ride on her... well i have a new weird thing going on....

it squeaks like my hubbys old car did when the shocks went...it sounds like a bird every once in a while....it is pretty darned annoying...anyone have a clue what to do to shut her up??? Im supposed to take a trip up to CT withsome friends on sunday and it will make me crazy if she is tweeting the whole time!.

I am goign to check out 3 bike tomorrow...a vstar 1100 (i think is to much bike but a buddy thinks im being a chicken), a 1969 harley stone head (900 kick start-which i think isnt a great idea), and a 2003 honda VLX. Like i said they are different bikes.

but in the mean time i am going away to CT with the sexy little rebel in the mean time. but please guys help??

forget that 69 harley those things are a piece of crap. Other bikes you might fit on are the S40 and the M80. My vertically challenged neighbour can ride these. I don't know what Honda has that would work.

Re: My rebel has a SQUEAKOkay I have this rebel i love my rebel until i get my upgr

okay had a friendly neighborhood harley mechanic look at my sqeeky rebel....the shocks (which look like big spings on each side of the bike)...it seems that there is a bit of suct in there causing the squeak...he sprayed it with a silicone kind of spray (he told me under no circumstances to used wd 40 becasue it will erode something in there..) so squeek is gone...

as far as the bike purchases... I bough tthe honda VLX...for me...i took it for a spin and it has all kinds of pep (compared to the beautiful rebel i now ride), ther rebel will get handed down to my son until i feel confident that he isnt too stupid to be riding.....i did however buy the Harley ...my friendly neighborhood harley mechanic came with me to check it out...I was able to kick it over..second try...and i have a bad knee...and well the only repair that needs to be done as per mr fixit is the front break handle.....

It is my hope that i can resell it down in the future and be able to afford an approapriate size bike for my son....after alll he will be going into the marines....I cant send a marine off to his first duty station with a rebel!!

SO yes i bought a 69 harley and i can ride it it is low to the ground and i cand handle it...(but well i certainly hope that i can resell thisclassic bike...It is in super shap...has been redone as far as mechanical and electrical...and the pain job is pretty good.i Hope to make a bit on it...not a killing. Thank you for your help

Re: My rebel has a SQUEAKOkay I have this rebel i love my rebel until i get my upgr

yep..I bought the harley iron head...the arn thing is almost as old as i am...but well somethings are beeter before they started messing with them...anyhow the harley purrs like a harley (LOL yeah as if an old harley urred but well um its good for other things too LOL...okay mind out of the gutter) any how the harley is runable...I just have to trailer him home....Im not comfortable enough to take him out on the highway until he has had a thorough physical..

Im picking up the VLX delux tomorrow...got her for a nice price and it is peppy... and well i still have my rebel and the intruder to....how did i go from a lady that had never turned a key on a bike in april to someone that now owns 4 bikes???

well i have all 4 of them insured fully and on the road legal...and even took out collision and fire and theft on the biggest 3. i figured just in case somone not so nice decided to help them selves to one of my babies....I could get their value back...and i have installed a bike bar in my garage...(it looks like a bicycle rack that people chain their bicycles to...but mine is for motorcycles....so in my seemingly unabtrusive garage i have a bike rack that i can chain and what not the bikes to it so it will make things awhole lot of an annoyance to try and steal one of my babies....and i have purchase a tire immobilizer for the two big well running ones...i figured noone was going to bother trying to steal my intruder as it isnt working fery well right now.... and well the idea of someone trying to go through all of the trouble to steal the rebel....well then they are just down right desperate...!

I'm happy for you, and jealous at the same time.. I never owned 4 bikes (mopeds do not count) at the same time... it must be difficult to choose which to take out for a ride...

Rider...at this point in time...I am unable to ride the intruder...its an 86 and it is sooooo top heavy i affraid to ride it....Im saving it for my son who is 5-9....Im 4-10...

i just have to choose between the rebel with the windscreen and saddle bags. and the vlx without the windscreen and saddle bags. Yes i have ordered the bags and working on the screen in a few minutes...LOL I dont like bugs in my teeth! and riding a bike that has more pep withotu a windscreen is interesting to put it mildly

Height has (almost) nothing to do with it. Look for a curb to park next to everytime you stop.... or quicly lower the side stand and let it rest on it before you get down.(or should I say fall down!!!) LOL

Honestly, I never thought someone will call the intruder tall. Its probably the steering positioned so far away and the foot rest far forward that give that impression... I'm sure that once you get it rolling you will love it. They have a very smooth ride compared to most choppers...

That reminds me of that film with Jim Carrey, being a cop and transporting a prisoner trans america on his Harley... Always smilling!!!! At least he never got hungry.

Don't you have a full face helmet? They are so much cooler, in every respect, to ride with compared to anything else. And yes, beening cool means being safe and in control of your vehicle and not fighting with the wind to keep your eyes open on any speed above 30. Maybe yous should consider it for you and your son, now that you have your 4 bikes. I don't critisize you, I just try to be helpfull and for all I know you probably do have a good helmet.

There is so many aspects to riding a bike, all with their own merit. I'm into street/sport bikes, but I do see the enjoyment you can get from any kind of bike, even a bicycle come to that... If I could afford them, I would have a full range of bikes, each for different situations...

It isnt the parking that is the problem it is the stopping at say a traffic light or in traffic that will get you.....hells bells if i could reach the ground i could ride a redwing an have no problem it is not the riding that is the peoblem it is the managing that is the problem...

I have a vlx now with forward controls and i can reach them just find but the center of gravity is low as it is on the rebel compared tot he 1984 intruder.

Im not on a head first type of bike im on a cruiser my back cannoy handle what i call sorry guys but i refer to them as mosquitos they are zipping around all over the place and the sound is annoing like a fly...MY son and I have 3/4 helmets...with face shields....but the face shiels do not go all the way down they protect the upper portion of the face...honestly for me a full face helmet for me is too constricting...due to an injury, my jaw cannot take the pressure...i had a partial fracture of a jaw. and well the ones that i have tried on had alot of blind spots in my humble opinion.

so anyone have an answer about the squeak??? WD-40 i was told will erode the seals and cause premature breakdown to various parts on the springs/suspension
