| Re: Lost Keys So you don't have the little metal tag that has your key number written on it, or you didn't write down your key number anywhere? I think it's gonna be tough. Someone forgot their key to their trackbike and had a locksmith come to the track. No luck. He was able to key the helmet lock, but had no luck with the ignition. Might as well check with your local Honda dealer and a locksmith, won't hurt. Good luck! |

| Re: Lost Keys Advice a little late for you, but for anyone else...when you get a new bike (or new to you bike), one of the first things you should do is write the key number in your owner's manual and/or put the little metal tag containing the key number in a safe place. When I bought my first used bike back in '86, the guy at the shop where I bought it told me that, and I never forgot it. |

| Re: Lost Keys According to my local Honda shop, all that is needed is the "key code" underneath the ignition. You will have to remove the ignition to see it. it should be an alphabet (A B C or D) followed by 2 numbers.
Example: D56
This should be located at the end of a longer string of numbers. If in doubt - write down all numbers including your VIN. |

| Re: Lost Keys I think on the 929s you have to drill the bolts off to remove the ignition barrell (the numbers are on the underside of it)
Find the little metal tag - its a lot easier
Good Luck

| Re: Lost Keys My rebel has tiny numbers on the plastic bottom of the ignition. I unbolted the speedodomitor, unscrewed the ignition and looked at the bottom (no numbers) but there was a black plastic clip on the bottom of the ignition that I popped off. On the wing next to the screw hole is a very small set on numbers. The last three are the code, one letter and two numbers in the states. Hopes this helps anyong that lost keys like I did. Mike |
