1998 SHADOW AERO VT1100C3

It appears broken welds on the frame were re-welded to no avail, after 1 day of riding it seems the frame has weakened and welds have cracked again 3 mm. from the old cracks. They are located in front of the rear wheel. It was first noticeable from the vibrations at 30 to 60 mph. This is terrible considering this motorcycle is dripping in chrome and so much was invested. Honda claims this occurs when the operator overloads the bike over its intended weight capacity somewhere bet. 320 to 400 llbs. Well we are way out of the warranty stage at this point. Perhaps we will have to either look for the improved 2000 year frame or start to sell off the parts. I still have my Trusty Triumph to ride while we sort this out.

My theory is the bike is bigger and heavier than most bikes in its class, add a 200 lb. plus person on it and it is a recipe for disaster. Honda should have gone heavy on re-enforcing the frame as they did in 2000-01-02

I noticed that you mentioned vibration. I have a Honda Shadow VT1100C, and it vibrates like crazy. I was told the vibration was inherent in the V-Twin, when all this time I figured the V-Twin should have NO vibration. I love the bike, but it is not much fun to ride. I rode 160 miles yesterday, and my lips were numb! The tires are balanced, the bearings are good, no looseness in the motor mounts, but man does it vibrate. Driving me nuts!! Gonna sell it if I can't fix it. It is a 2000, by the way. Any suggestions???

Hi, you say you have a 2000 model year Shadow classic? Take it to a Dealer and explain the vibrations to them. I have a friend who owns a 2000 VT1100C3 and apart from the vtwins usual vibrations, the bike is smooth at low to high speeds. when it idles it will vibrates, but once moving it is pretty smooth up to about 90, then the bike gets sloppy and revs too high at high speeds.
