| 1983 Honda CM450A "Hondamatic" I am the recent owner of a 1983 Honda CM450A, "Hondamatic." I am not familiar with this type of bike, and although all I had to do to get it running well was replace the battery, now I'm having another problem. Anytime I try to shift out of Neutral, and into 1st, it dies. I have no idea why, and for anyone who is familiar with this model knows, this particular model of bike doesn't have a clutch like other bikes. Could anyone tell me why this is happening? I'm totally clueless... |

| Re: 1983 Honda CM450A "Hondamatic" Not familiar with the bike, but does it have a sidestand kill switch that shuts it off if the stand is down and the bike is put into gear? If so, check it for shorts or poor connections.

| Re: 1983 Honda CM450A "Hondamatic" It starts & runs fine. When it's cold, I have no problems with it whatsoever. Once it has been ridden for a little while, and the transmission gets heated up, if I shift in to neutral, I can't get it back into 1st. Every time I try, it clunks, & then dies. It did it to me yesterday. I let it sit overnight, and then it started up and shifted just fine. Could this be a fluid viscosity issue, or something else? As far as the kickstand sensor goes, there isn't one that I can see... |
