| Honda Nighthawk 700s I just purchased a 1985 Honda Nighthawk 700s. Don't really know what I have but it is fast and mechanical good shape. My question is.. I am thinking about putting some time in it and restore it, repaint, recover seat, etc. Is this bike worth putting the work into ? I paid 1200 for it, all cosmestics in good shape, it looks like other owners just painted over the old paint serveral times without removing old paint. |

| Re: Honda Nighthawk 700s that can only be answered by yourself. if you like the bike and want to keep it for a while and want to make it the best it can be, then yes, put the time into it. but if its just a "whatever" bike, don't put time into it |

| Re: Honda Nighthawk 700s Hey Crockett - Back in 85, I bought a red/black 700s off the floor. I loved that bike and wish I still had it. That engine and gas tank are pure artwork. I'd buy another one if I could find a clean one. Good luck!! |

| Re: Honda Nighthawk 700s Thats basically what I needed to know, Is this a good quality and reliable bike. In 1985 was this rated a good bike or just another 1985 bike ?
Thanks for the input Grover130 |

| Re: Honda Nighthawk 700s In 85 the 700s was rated high because of the maintenance free engine. Hydraulic lifters and the shaft drive made life easy. At the time, the ninjas and the new vfr were just coming out and the nighthawk, although fast, could'nt keep up. I ended up trading her in on a vfr. The 700 was still a great machine!!! |

| Re: Honda Nighthawk 700s I was really impressed that a bike this old still runs so well. Took it for a test drive last weekend 350 miles round trip and no problems at all. Did not use a drop of oil and no oil leaks at all. It has around 30,000 miles. My first bike was a 97 Sportster, sold it and bought a Ninja and now the 700s. The Ninja was just too uncomfortable. I was looking for another sporster and ran across the Honda, after test driving it I was surprised with the power, So now I have a Honda. I have got the tank and ferrings sanded down to bare metal and fiberglass. Not having much luck finding original decals so I may customize the tank. Paint and recover the seat and it should be good to go.
I changed the oil and filter, any other fluids I need to change ? |

| Re: Honda Nighthawk 700s When you get the chance - Since it's an older bike, flush the brake, fork and drive shaft fluids. Since it's air cooled, you won't need to worry about coolant! Customs cool - pick a nice color! Don't forget the honda wings.

| Re: Honda Nighthawk 700s I just inherited my 700s from a family friend. Should be a couple of pictures posted. A little about it.
I have an 85 nighthawk 700s. Only had it two weeks now.
Bike sat in storage for a few years and i got it out, dropped some gas
in her to see what happend, she fired right off. I am the third owner
and i know the other two. The bike has been taken care of. The pic u see with the battery hanging out the
side is that way because i just got a battery for it and that was a
temp to get the bike running. We cleaned the carbs and got them back
in and it now runs with only the bump of the ignition. All i have left to do to the bike is get tires, change the oil and put all the fairing back on and its ready to go. the fairing comes off easily, and it looks pretty spiffy with all of the fairing and bags on. The nice thing is the bike has a complete running second engine with only 9000 miles on it, i pretty well have a complete second bike also with 9000 miles on it, just no extra frame. i will definately post pictures on here when i get it completed and go for my first ride.it is a German made Pichler fairing. It has things on the front fender that cover up the wheel, I can't remember what its called. It also has Krauser bags on it with KG racks. Tell me what you think.
