Re: a Cruiser forum too?

Ya, for a cruiser, its a nice bike. A coworker has a retro 1800 and its pretty nice. Way too easy to grind the floor boards, but nice

Re: a Cruiser forum too?

I'd be interested in seeing an 1800 with a shot of the goofy gas, or some boost

Re: a Cruiser forum too?

Do Honda do a cruiser as fast, as powerful or as mental as the Triumph Rocket III? The Rocket III cruiser has a 2300cc engine and will out accelerate an R1 to 60mph, and it goes even faster with a passenger as it gets more rear wheel grip!

140ft/lb of torque.
140bhp.

I rode the Honda GL1500 Valkyrie and found that the engine felt very dull, flat and just plodded along with no real feel of acceleration. Are all the Honda cruisers like that? Do Honda make an exciting cruiser?

Re: a Cruiser forum too?

The VTX 1800 is supposed to be rather beastly. I have some experience on an '03 GoldWing, and even though the motors are completely different I can tell you that it has a very potent motor!

Was it quicker than an R1 to 60?

Re: a Cruiser forum too?

I have installed a PC and a set of 3" HK straights to a VTX 1800. The 1800 makes hella power. It snatches the front end off the ground when you hit 2nd and carries it a way if you know what you are doing. The bike needs to be short shifted to make hella power so that it stays where all the torque is. Top speed is around 135mph for the 1800. The sound justsint there like the 1300 which is what I will be riding in about 2 months hopefully.

Probably not, but it can hold its own.

True, but it can't hold it against the new Triumph Rocket III, which will do over 140mph. Standard, no tuning. 140 bhp, 140ft/lb of torque. And most of the torque is available from little over tickover.

Finally a cruiser that's also a real bruiser?

Re: a Cruiser forum too?

I had it up to 100(on a closed course, and yes, I am a professional) and it still had plenty of juice left!

1800R with floorboards and saddlebags for Conq.

No windshield though, sorry.

Can't really compare it to a sport-bike obviously, but the bike pulls HARD through 100mph. One of the coolest sounding intakes I've heard when you're really on it. It sounds like your sucking in all the air within a 1/2 mile radius I found a some remnants of a Hardley the last time I cleaned the air filter
