Heated Gloves, etc

I've seen a lot about heated gear for motorcyclists. The thing I am not clear on is, can I have heated gear?

I have a 2006 Honda Shadow Spirit. I don't have a big touring bike with all the amenities of a house. So I'm left asking the silly question of... where do you plug it in? Can I plug it in?

I feel stupid asking that question, but any insight would be great.

Re: Heated Gloves, etc

You will need to wire in a socket to plug into but the most important thing is to check your output. If the alternator is already maxed out plugging in heat will fry things. Check your manual for outputs.

I wired an output on one of my Shadows so I could plug in my satellite radio. No problems and it's been over a year. Wire it to the battery with an inline fuse, just like a battery tender hook up.

Re: Heated Gloves, etc

you should be fine, btw i put up a review of the tourmaster synergy jacket liner in aftermarket part reviews "by accident" wrong section. still a good idea to know what your limitations are so definately check your electrical system but i doubt a liner and set of heated gloves would raise a issue.

a guy i work with uses gerbing liner and gloves on a klr650 dual sport with no issues and gerbings has the highest current draw

If I had a nickel (5p coin for us EU-types) for every time I've recommended this...

.: Distribution Block / Powered Relay | Canyon Chasers Motorcycle Sport Touring :.

It's simple as blueberry pie. You can get all you need at RadioShack (US) or Maplin (EU).

Enjoy.
