exhaust

I have a 04 shadow aero 750, that had stock exhaust, and i put cobra street rod exhaust on it. i have often heard that riding a bike with aftermarket exhaust and no jet kit is hard on it, is this true?

Re: exhaust

It will make it run even more lean than the lean factory settings meaning it will run hotter than normal. Give it a jet kit and give it some more fuel to take advantage of the new exhaust and power gains.

Re: exhaust

A jet kit can be had for around $70.00. It won't run very good but you can ride it. It's hard on the motor decreasing the configured back pressure without adjusting the fuel and air mixture. As stated above, long term damage may occur.

On the other hand, I had a friend with a 750 Shadow with a set of Cobra's on it without the proper jetting and they never had a problem that I knew about. Except for that terrible pop on decel.

If it were me and I ponied up the cash for a nice exhaust, I'd do it right and jet it properly for the most performance gain possible. Take pride in your ride and do it correctly.
