1980 CM400 Wont start!

I just finished rebuilding my engine and now it wont start. I hit the electric start button and it cranked over 3 times and then stopped. I tried charging the battery, all it did was click like the battery was dead. I tried push starting, but the back wheel wont turn. I can't seem to figure out what could be wrong??

Re: 1980 CM400 Wont start!

.... sounds to me like summut to do with rebuild?
...did you completely strip it? anything broken?

many years ago I picked up a friends bike from the shop.. pulled up and it stalled, couldn't restart it .... was locked solid.. turned out a washer was left floating around in the engine and had jammed in the gears*

*luckily for me it did it just as i stopped

The engine seems to be locked - What did you do in the rebuild?
