Every type of bikes serves a purpose somewhere for someone.
To each his own.

And keep the yelling down.

Re: CRUISERS

I had a cruiser. 2001 Honda Shadow 750 ACE Deluxe. First brand new bike I ever bought. I sold it last summer b/c I didn't feel safe on it anymore. The darn thing wouldn't do anything well. It scared me. The only thing it was good for were rides in a straight line at about 35mph. That's it.

I am much happier w/ the 954, and believe it or not it is much more comfortable than the shadow. I don't feel like I'm going to fall off the back at freeway speeds. The only downfall is that I don't have a bike that I can take the wife on. As soon as I pay off my truck I will buy either an FJR, VFR, or possibly some kind of naked standard. But I will always have the "zinger" for me.

You have to remember that many things Americans do don't make sense. The motorcycling epicenter is Europe, don't rub it in dude. And quit shouting. It just so happens that the overwhelming majority on this site ride sportbikes, and aren't punters. They are the equivalent of the UK rider, and any rider worldwide that are enthusiasts. Not all cruisers are stupid, the Roadstar Warrior and a few others aren't too bad, but you won't catch me on one

Re: CRUISERS

I sold my FZR 1000 (which I had for 10yrs) and bought a VTX 1800R a little over a year ago. The bike is simply amazing, especially for 2 up riding and touring (I don't want a Goldwing....yet.) It's got tons of torque, especially for such a heavy machine and is comfortable enough to ride 200+ miles without even thinking about getting off to stretch. The bike is really in it's element when you're just out for a laid-back 50-60mph cruise down the back farm roads, especially with a passenger. Even though the bike is enormous, I have ridden the bike enough to feel extremely comfortable about riding it in heavy traffic. (New Jersey still has circles (roundabouts) as well.)

On the other hand, I missed the sport-bike terribly and decided to pick up a leftover 954RR two weeks ago. Love that as well, but a completely different reason for taking that out when I do. My wife used to ride on the FZR all the time, but has no desire to ride on the 954 after being on the VTX. That's ok, b/c I bought the bike for me lol.

Long story short (too late I know

You feel more intense on a sport-bike. If I want to go out for up to 100 miles or so of carving the turns, the 954 rocks.

If I plan to take a trip, take a passenger, or just want to relax and ride...the VTX is top choice.

I will never be without one of each in the stable.

Re: CRUISERS

Actually, just Saturday past I had a Bimmer R1200C out for the day. A pal of mine owns it and he seems interested in my Trumpet and some cash on a trade.

It was an awesome ride, and I may do it. But I still have the Tiller for my toy.
