85 vf700 float bowl gaskets. where to get.

just about finished rebuilding and it actually started and ran good on first try. HOWEVER, when i pulled the carb set and cleaned them i did not use new gaskets and one is leaking. does anyone sell just the gaskets or is it possible to use formagasket on them? thanks

WELL, I WENT OUT TO PULL THE CARB SET and after removing the tank and airbox i decided to start the bike and look close for the leak first. after 5 minutes of seeing no gas i feel that maybe one of the floats stuck on the initial starting cycle. as i have no way of knowing how long the bike sat that may have been it.

Had exactly the same thing myself this week.
I built a DR500 engine (bad transmission) and then rebuilt the carb before putting any fuel through the fresh engine.
I turned the fuel on and it just poured straight out the carb overflow, so I turned the tap off as it looked like the carb had to come off again.
But I fired the engine up anyway first to make sure the build was good.
Then it occurred to me that perhaps running the engine might have jiggled the carb enough to close a sticking float valve. Turned the fuel back on and it's been just fine :-)
