Will the oil filter from a CBR 900 1999 fit a CBR 929 2000 ?

Hi folks,

I had bought an Honda OEM oil filter for my 1999 900RR just before it got stolen. Now that I bought a 2000 929, I'm wondering if it will fit ? Part # says 15410-mm9-013.

Thanks guys

Return it and get the correct one. Why risk a motor on a $10 filter?

The 929 and RC and a few others use a new filter. It fits but its different internally. Its also a tad shorte. MM9 vs. MCJ designations on the filter.

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll just give it to a 900RR riding buddy

I noticed that K&N oil filters are exactly the same for the 900RR and the 929... are they any good ?

O.K., I'll bite.
They've been proven to reduce HP on the 929.
But they are an economical choice.

the 900rr filter with that part number is different from the filter for the 929. It is, however, common with CBR600 F2s, F3s, VFRs at least through 01, and probably older ST1100s and GWs. I don't know about F4/F4is. I wouldn't use any filter but the one spec'd for your bike, and for the minimal cost difference, I wouldn't use anything but Honda. Just buy a bunch at a time from Ron Ayers or servicehonda, so shipping will be combined and the price will be discounted.
