Clip-ons?

I have been searching threads here trying to find out some info on clip-ons. I have seen many different versions of them but from what I can see all require you to drop the forks in the trees a bit to install them. I was wondering do they make a decent quality clip-on that has a type of riser like the stock bars but with a little better angle for riding?

Re: Clip-ons?

Hmm, you you want a different clip on with essentially the same height, but different angle? I guess you could get the Two Bros ones, they have a setup that will let you change the height, possibly the angle as well. Most others (Vortex, CFM) are fixed angle and drop about 2 in.

There is also the Giles Variobar. I have no experience with them, but have seen them listed in the Lockhart catalog.

You have to raise the forks which is like droping the trees down the forks and the clip-ons bolt to the top of the forks.

Unless I am seriously mistaken, you are looking at the wrong clip-ons for your bike.

Re: Clip-ons?

They'll look just like the ones you have on your bike now.

eg. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

Yes, you have to raise the forks so you can get the clip ons onto the for tubes,

But they'll still go below the top tripple clamp.

Why would you need to raise the forks to mount the bars in your link?

Re: Clip-ons?

From all other post that I have read about clip-ons is that the clip-ons sets on top of the tripple tree mounted to the forks. So the amount of the fork that is showing on top of the tree which might be a 1/4 inch needs to be more like an inch and a half so that you have room to mount the clip-ons to. Now earlier today I saw that those in the eariler post you could just mount them like the stockers. The vortex one that i have been looking at would require you to mount them differently unless they will just clear the ram air covers and not rub them. I'm only going off the knowledge that I have gotten from other people on some other boards that have had discussion about clip-ons. I have never used them and probably won't seeing that the price for the ones with the risers and the ability to change the angle of the bar are at least $300.00. Maybe I have been looking at the wrong bars but that's why I here asking about them. If someone has a picture of clip-ons on there (929) please e-mail them or post them here.

Re: Clip-ons?

They pretty much all mount under the top triple, just like the stock clipons.

Re: Clip-ons?

I wouldn't say that any of the lower ones are more comfortable. The Heli bars seem to be the most comfortable from what some here have said - they raise a little higher and change the angle. You may want to look into those for street comfort.
The main purpose for most of the lower clipons is to get your weight and body down lower to the front for racing.
